BIRDS ART & CRAFT PROJECT AT THE SF PUBLIC LIBRARY

The BIRDS event at the North Beach Branch of the San Francisco Public Library on February 23rd was amazing and fun. As usual, I was gobsmacked by the talent and creativity of the children. Adults and children colored with water soluble crayons, then painted with water to get the watercolor effects. After that they stuck on anything that grabbed their imagination. They were thrilled to take them home and show them off. I couldn't have been more proud of them. My next event will be on March 23rd and will be FLOWERS AND BUTTERFLIES. Hope you can come.

Mr. Bini is my first bird portrait and all his lovely feathers were a delight to paint. I had to take time to study several photos of this face to distinguish the differences and to choose his most pleasant expression. Parrots can look somewhat beady eyed which wouldn’t have pleased his mum. Mr. Bini is a very handsome Senegal parrot.

I have done some picture books and color and write projects with many different animals as the main protagonists. After having spent time with Mr. Bini, I feel a parrot picture book coming on. Please check out my many books on my gallery page or on my Color and Write Stories page.
