PET PORTRAIT: HENRY WITH A BOW TIE

Henry with a Bow Tie, by Elizabeth B Martin

Henry with a Bow Tie, by Elizabeth B Martin

This is a portrait of my dog Henry. As you can see he is most dapper. The way I achieved the fixed concentrated look was to have someone behind me with a bag of kibble while I took his photo!

I will contribute to the silent auction at the Wag Hotel Howl-o-ween Party on October 26th in San Francisco. Please come and bid so I can paint your pet. All the money raised will go to my favorite charities. See more of my pet portraits here.

NIKO DRAWS A FEELING by BOB RACZKA and SIMONE SHIN

Niko Draws a Feeling, by Bob Raczka and Simone Shin

Niko Draws a Feeling, by Bob Raczka and Simone Shin

NIKO DRAWS A FEELING is an inspiring book for children who love to draw and capture their thoughts and the world around them.

Niko draws everything in his world but in his own way, and loves the feeling when he succeeds. He sees things differently from other people, such as drawing the ring-a-ling of an ice cream truck as opposed to the truck itself. His friends don’t always know what to make of his drawings, but he knows when he has succeeded in his aim and is on to the next drawing to try and recapture the exhilarating feeling.

This book is a wonderful inspiration to let loose and paint.

Art With Elizabeth September Event is Animal Faces!

Hurray! It is back to school time and my first fall library event will be at the North Beach branch of the San Francisco Public Library on September 21st at 4:00 PM! Please everyone come and join in the fun. It will involve easy large drawings to be colored with water soluble crayons. After that, the best part, there will be millions of fun things to stick on. I am following the children’s example and coloring everything any color I choose. Too much fun! See more upcoming events on my Events page.

CARTOONING AT TelHi & PREPPING FOR FALL

Fantastic results at my first cartooning event at TelHi Center!

Fantastic results at my first cartooning event at TelHi Center!

I can’t resist posting yet another bunch of images from my TelHi summer school event with 2nd through 5th graders. We were learning to do cartoons. They worked well together and were terrific fun. One of them told me my Fritzy Bang Bang character was a knock-off—there is always a critic in the room!

Fun use of speech bubbles at my TelHi cartooning event!

I hope to continue leading cartoon events with TelHi children in the Fall, helping them with their own characters and stories. I will post my prompt ideas during the summer and will appreciate any comments as this is new to me. Check out my NEW page about Cartooning at TelHi!
