I love Rob Scotton’s books. His concepts are whimsical, funny and utterly British. I particularly love his illustrations. They are simple and pleasing to the child and at the same time endlessly clever and artistic.
Rob Scotton’s sense of texture and composition makes his books quite different from other children’s books. He also includes the most amusing objects and extra characters. His ducks are especially fanciful, and he has used them in many books. Splat's sidekick, a mouse called Seymour, follows him into his adventures and is endlessly lovable. His books have begun to win awards, and I can see why.
