Niko Draws a Feeling, by Bob Raczka and Simone Shin

NIKO DRAWS A FEELING is an inspiring book for children who love to draw and capture their thoughts and the world around them.

Niko draws everything in his world but in his own way, and loves the feeling when he succeeds. He sees things differently from other people, such as drawing the ring-a-ling of an ice cream truck as opposed to the truck itself. His friends don’t always know what to make of his drawings, but he knows when he has succeeded in his aim and is on to the next drawing to try and recapture the exhilarating feeling.

This book is a wonderful inspiration to let loose and paint.

ANIMAL FACES ART & CRAFT PROJECT AT THE LIBRARY THIS THURSDAY!

Animal Faces Art & Craft Project at the SF Public Library is This Thursday!

Animal Faces Art & Craft Project at the SF Public Library is This Thursday!

Please, everyone come to my ANIMAL FACES art and craft event at the North Beach branch of the San Francisco Public Library this Thursday. The fun will begin September 21st at 4:00 PM.  It will involve easy large drawings to be colored with water soluble crayons. After that, the best part, there will be millions of fun things to stick on. I am following the children’s example and coloring everything any color I choose. I have done examples of animals eating grass and leaves but ran into trouble with the lion. I could hardly show him chomping on bambi! See my other fall events on my Events page.

ROSEMARY WELLS

Max's Bedtime by Rosemary Wells

Max's Bedtime by Rosemary Wells

Rosemary Wells has written more than 130 books. I chose the board book MAX’S BEDTIME because the cover has one of the most endearing expressions ever, as does Max's bunny-sort-of-bear. Wells said: "Simple incidents from childhood are universal. The dynamics between older and younger siblings are common to all families.”

Her dogs, west highland terriers, Lucy and Snowy, worked their way into her drawings in expression and body position. I bet one of them was the inspiration for the expression on Max’s face. Can’t you just see it?

The second image is of Max unable to sleep. Again it is utterly perfect!

Among her many books are:
RUBY'S BEAUTY SHOP
MAX'S CHRISTMAS
BUNNY PART
MAX'S CHOCOLATE CHICKEN
BUNNY CAKES
